A new Japanese word!

February 21, 2008 at 2:59 am (Uncategorized)

While reading the homework for tomorrow’s class I came across the latest Japanese word that has to do with efficiency. Move over muda and kaizen because here comes Kanban! For those of you who have yet to read, kanban is used in a “pull” system. It literally means card. This is used because the Japanese used cards to signal when they needed more material at various stations.
I look  forward to discussing the glories of kanban tomorrow in class! But I think my favorite new word is still muda because despite my efforts I still manage to produce tons of it on a very regular basis. Does anyone want to buy some? I didn’t think so!

See you in class!
